What is Thin Blade Slitter Scorer?
let's explain what is the Thin blade slitter scorer as per its name. Thin blade means the machine with groups of round shape blade, the blade is made by tungsten steel, it is sharp and thin, so we call it thin blade. The thin blade is used to slitting the corrugated cardboard, so it is needed to change new one. It is consumables. then let me explain what slitter scorer means. Slitter means a knife to cut in longitudinal direction. Scorer means a wheel press a convex channel on the corrugated cardboard. As we see a carton, there are some convex channel to make cartons easy to unfold to be a carton. The scorer is just the wheel for making convex channel on corrugated cardboard. Then we call this machine as Thin Blade Slitter Scorer.
What is Thin Blade Slitter Scorer for?
As we know, after double facer, the corrugated cardboard is in big size. Its width is the corrugated cardboard production line width, and its length is no limit. For carton factories, we do not need so big size corrugated cardboard, then we have to cut the corrugated cardboard into difference sizes which we need. How we get the size we need, slitter scorer just one machine for this.
For example, the corrugated cardboard production line working width is 1800mm, then the corrugated cardboard before Slitter scorer, it is in width 1800mm, but we need the corrugated cardboard in width 600mm for making cartons, then we can set on slitter scorer, then the machine will slitting the corrugated cardboard in 3 pieces, each piece is in width 600mm. Also we need make convex channel on the corrugated cardboard, we also can set on the slitter scorer to make the convex channel as we request. This is the function of slitter scorer in corrugated cardboard production line

The slitter scorer is located after double facer and before cutting off machine. I had explained why the slitter scorer is behind double facer above, then after slitting in difference size, we also need cut the corrugated cardboard in the length which we need, so after slitter scorer, it is another direction cut on the corrugated cardboard, cut off machine is behind the slitter scorer.
Special request on Slitter Scorer
For low speed and middle speed corrugated paperboard production line, we equip 1 set of slitter scorer, but for higher speed production line, normally we suggest 2 sets of NC slitter scorer, because the corrugated paperboard production line design speed is faster and faster, though we have new models and higher speed models of NC slitter scorer, it can not meet the speed of the production line because of time for changing orders, we do not have time to change order on Slitter scorer, then we can equip 2 sets of NC slitter scorer to meet the faster and faster speed of corrugated paperboard production line.
Configuration of Slitter Scorer
Normally for width 1800mm slitter scorer, it has 5 blades and 6 scorer wheels, some times customers request 6 blades 10 scorer wheels. In theory, bigger width will be equipped more blades and scorers. When the machine width is 2500mm, we will equip7 blades 12 scorer wheels. Now our maximum width of NC slitter scorer is 3300mm, and it has 10 blades and 18 scorer wheels.
Sure, this is normal configuration of slitter scorer, customers always have difference request on this, when we meet customer difference request, we do not hurry to agree their request, we have to talk with customers firstly. We have to know whether customers’ request is reasonable, maybe it is not good for production line working. Some customers think more blades and scorer is better, in fact, when we equip more blades and scorer wheel, it will take space on the machine, then it make more limit for working on corrugated cardboard. So firstly, we will suggest the configuration as our experience, then consider customers' opinion, we offer a reasonable advice.
